Many guests plan on using the ranch as a base camp to go off and explore and yet find that the family is happy relaxing and exploring right here on the ranch. The guest house is fully contained so you can feel like you’re in a home away from home. With your own professionally maintained outdoor hot tub, big fenced yard, miles of walking trails, creek, pond, and river, you can stay right here and enjoy.
On the Ranch you will find meadows, wetlands, and forest with 360 degree mountain views. Guests enjoy buffalo roaming, year-round creeks and ponds with native fish, and pristine frontage along the Blaeberry River which is fed by the Mummery Glacier. We are surrounded by amazing vistas of the Canadian Rockies and the Purcell Mountains. On the tour Leo will Demonstrate the art of fire making using a native traditional method of the Bow Drill. Leo learned this technique from an elder in the state of California 20 years ago and loves to pass on the knowledge and skill to those eager to learn.
Leo has extensive knowledge of how to survive in the wild, and loves to teach how to do so while staying in balance with the animals, plants and elements.
School & Group Trips
The ranch provides the ideal location for a fun and informative day for school and other groups to experience life in the Canadian Rockies.
Hosted by Leo, guests will have the opportunity to learn about Buffalo and other wildlife, the history of the area, surviving on the land and operating a ranch.
Additional activities can include exploring the ranch, trekking down to the Blaeberry River and lunch around the fire in our sheltered, open-air round house.
Walking Tracks
The trails on the ranch are spectacular all year round and can be enjoyed any season. The main trail starts at the edge of the meadow and takes you through a variety of landscapes as the path leads you to the Blaeberry river. If you time it right you can watch the salmon swim up the river, and even up the property’s creek, as they come up to spawn, and enjoy the multitude of animals drawn to this event. During the winter months the snow turns the ranch into a winter wonderland, perfect to explore using snowshoes.
Staying on the property in the cabin by the creek, you have a trail right from the back door leading into the surrounding forest. This trail then meets up with the river trail where you can continue down to the river or loop back to the meadow.
